Syllabus Template
Faculty may use the following template or format the required syllabus components without using the template in the order of their choice. Faculty may also, of course, choose to add additional syllabus information.
To use the template, click the Syllabus Template link located on the left-hand side of the screen (under Faculty Resources). The template will open in Microsoft Word. For each category in the Syllabus Template, select the category and highlight (select) the text to be entered/changed. Enter your information according to the list below. When you are finished, save the file to My Documents section or to a diskette.

Required Sections
Course Information
- Quarter, Year
- Course title, course number, course section, and credit hours
- Course description (current catalog description at a minimum or refer to a Web link)
- Prerequisites (if any)
- Location and class meeting times and dates (if applicable) of the course
- Name of the instructor
- Telephone number and email of the instructor
- Office hours and office location (if applicable)
- Information about required textbooks and materials
- Optional materials (if applicable)
- List all objectives (expected learning outcomes) from the official course syllabi form on file in division offices or by visiting the following web site: http://www.edcc.edu/courseproposal/Official_Syllabi/. Once you're at this site; click on the official course syllabi link on the left-hand side of the page to find your specific class information.
- (Optional) List additional course objectives (expected learning outcomes)
- Statement about plagiarism, use of cell phones and other electronic devices in class (if applicable)
- Attendance (if applicable)
- Emergency closure: In case of an emergency closure, please access the following web site for information: http://www.schoolreport.org/ and or call this phone number: 425-640-1459.
- Grading policies (i.e., what assessments will be used, how grades will be determined)
- Policies on late work or make-up work (if applicable)
- Policy on V and I grades (if applicable), including college definitions

- The date and time of the required final exam or class meeting during Finals Week
